Other ways to recycle

Although there are three main ways to recycle in West Sussex, they don’t always allow you to recycle the things you want to. So here are some other ways that you can recycle in Billingshurst that will allow you to recycle more than just mixed recycling, textiles and garden waste. If you want to find out more about recycling those things, head over to our West Sussex section

Other places to donate

The Billingshurst Recycling Centre has a small reuse shop which homeware, bric-a-brac, bikes (sold as seen) and furniture (including garden furniture).

Don’t forget that even food can be donated to the Community Fridge. Your nearest one is Horsham. There may also be textiles bins dotted around the area so look out for them. Find out more about textiles bins on our West Sussex page.

Non-council collectors in your area

Non-council collectors offer other ways to save specific items going into landfill. Which helps to reduce waste and allows for the items to find a new use.

One of the main alternative ways to recycle is TerraCycle collections. TerraCycle is a recycling company that allows people to recycle items that would otherwise go into landfill. Things like crisp packets and toothpaste tubes among lots of other things.

The things that you can recycle through TerraCycle will depend on the collection points in your area. For the people of Billingshurst, there is a collection point in The Chapel car park in the High Street which collects single-use plastics to be recycled. The collection point is run by Green Living. Click here to find out more and to view the comprehensive list of what is collected

William Penn Quaker Primary School also collect for Terracycle on behalf of Green Living. Find out what they collect here.

What else can I recycle in Billingshurst?

Batteries can be recycled in the Tesco Express on Station Road. The Lidl in the Business Park also recycles batteries.

The Tesco Extra in Horsham, just a 15 minute drive from Billingshurst, has a soft plastic collection point. It accepts items such as cucumber wrappers, salad bags, crisp packets and bread wrappers.

The Co-Op at Southwater also allows customers to recycle soft plastics and the M&S on Horsham Road may have a collection point too.
